It's official; Comprehensive Plan earns approval

The Mayor and City Council unanimously approved the City’s first-ever Comprehensive Plan November 10, ending a process that began in September 2007. The plan – which includes a future land-use policy, transportation master plan and greenspace plan – defines the City’s shared vision for how land will be used. The process involved more than 20 meetings including two open houses, public hearings, a community assessment and extensive citizen input leading to development of the actual plan with input from an 11-member Citizens Advisory Committee along with transportation and greenplan subcommittees under the guidance of several consultants and staff.

Hot dog! Famous Wienermobile will add to Founders Day fun

Spectators at the second annual Founders Day Parade Saturday, December 6 will relish the opportunity to see one of the world's most famous rolling advertisements when the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile joins the lineup for the trek down State Bridge Road. This icon is just one new feature of the City's expanded, weeklong Founders Day Celebration. Read more.

Have breakfast with Santa Dec. 13 at Autrey Mill

Children are invited to join the Recreation and Parks Division for “Breakfast with Santa” on Saturday, December 13 at Autrey Mill Nature Preserve.

Enjoy music, gingerbread cookie decorating, holiday crafts, and have the opportunity to write a letter and hand-deliver it to Santa. Two seatings are available – 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. and 10-11 a.m.

Registration is required and is now under way through December 5. Cost is $15 per child and space is limited. Click here for registration form and additional info.

Buice Road work begins November 17

road work City contractor CW Matthews Construction Co. will begin work on the Buice Road resurfacing project from Alabama Road to Jones Bridge Road on Monday, November 17. Work is expected to be completed in 30 days.

The road will remain open to traffic throughout construction, but there will be lane closures between 9 am and 4 pm, and delays are expected.
